Successful Living with Chronic Conditions Workshop

Jones Regional Medical Center will begin offering one six-week long chronic disease workshop facilitated by Mary Ann Hindman, social services director at Jones Regional.  The workshop will be from 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. every Wednesday beginning on February 15. The workshop will be held in the hospital board room.

The cost for the workshop is $20 per individual, or $30 per couple, for the six-week course. Each participant will receive a copy of the book, “Living a Healthy Life with Chronic Conditions,” and a relaxation tape. Those who should consider participating in this workshop are those with chronic long-term conditions such as arthritis, heart disease, asthma, lung disease, emphysema, stroke, Parkinson’s, diabetes, cancer and other conditions. The workshop is also for a friend, caregiver or relative who would benefit from the problem-solving skills related to managing a chronic condition.

Workshop participants will explore a range of topics related to chronic conditions and successful living including managing symptoms, better communication with doctors, dietitian or nurses, reducing frustration, fighting fatigue, making daily tasks easier, reducing stress and anxiety and more.

Hindman says, “The goals of the classes are to improve quality of life for those with chronic illnesses and their caregivers by learning self management skills.”

To learn more about the workshop or to pre-register today, please call Mary Ann Hindman at Jones Regional Medical Center at 319-481-6318.

Inpatient Services
"I know that I wouldn't be walking and talking today if it weren't for the wonderful care I received at Jones Regional. I was an inpatient and couldn't have asked for a better stay. The care I received was wonderful, from the nurses, to the doctors, everyone. They really did all treat me like family. We really appreciate what we have here at home in Jones County."
