What to Expect After Total Joint Replacement Surgery
12:30 p.m. til 1:30 p.m.
Jones Regional Therapy Services Department

“This class prepares people for the time after the surgery,” says Shelly Deutmeyer, physical therapist assistant. “Most people receive a lot of information on how the surgery itself is performed, but have little information on what to expect afterward. Recovering from these surgeries often can be a long road, so we want to help people understand it.”

Topics of the class include the pain to expect, the extent of therapy done, the exercises people need to do, post-hospitalization options, the duration of outpatient therapy, and the kinds of support systems that exist. Jones Regional’s physical therapy staff will facilitate the class. Also, patients who have had this type of surgery will be there to offer insights.

To learn more about the class or to register, please call the therapy services department at 319-481-6327.  Meets second Monday of each month.

Sean Williams Elgin Lester, Lifeguard Air Ambulance Helicopter Pilot
Emergency Department
"The emergency room team worked together so well. They were prepared to take care of my immediate needs when I arrived. There wasn't a wasted motion in the ER. I was so impressed with the efficiency and the way the ER worked! As an air ambulance pilot, I've seen it all, and for a smaller hospital to have everything lined up and orchestrated so well, it was comforting to me as I was going through this. I was in a lot of pain, but they took care of me. I've always thought they did a great job here in Anamosa, but I really understand the true meaning of 'They saved my life' now."
- Elgin Lester, Anamosa, former heart attack patient at Jones Regional
